Homilies for the Season of Advent

Our Lady of the New Advent

As we live the days of Advent we should think of
Our Lady. Think of her carrying her Baby. Think of the Mother with Her Child. Think of the young Mother awaiting the Childs birth.
Think of the Visitation, the journey to Bethlehem. Think of good Saint Joseph. And surely, think of the cave, that wondrous cave
and the kindly animals.

The liturgy of the Advent Season brings into
prominence three great figures in Church history: Isaiah, Saint John the Baptist,
and Our Blessed Lady.

It brings to mind the waiting for the promise of salvation which
God had given through the prophets for many generations. On the first
Christmas, the promise was fulfilled.
During the next four weeks, let us prepare with the same
joy that must have been present almost 2000 years ago, as we celebrate the
impending birth of Jesus, Our Lord and Savior.
